International Women’s Day
LCM Partners is marking International Women’s Day this year by making a donation to Refuge, a charity which helps women and children escape violent and abusive situations and rebuild their lives.
Extended periods of lockdown have led to an increase in domestic violence as women in abusive relationships are forced to spend more time with their partners. Two-thirds of women in abusive relationships have suffered more violence from their partners during the pandemic and three-quarters of victims also say the lockdown has made it harder for them to escape their abusers1.
Refuge runs a range of specialist services to help survivors to access safety and rebuild their lives, including a 24 hour domestic abuse helpline. They provide refuges giving emergency temporary accommodation for women and children fleeing abuse, and allowing women time and space to make decisions about their futures with specialist staff on hand to provide one-to-one emotional and practical support.
